Books I’ve changed my mind about + why I change my mind about books// Also a feedback survey

I change my mind a lot.

And when it comes to books,,,oooh boy my mind keeps swinging. And honestly I’m not a fan of this at all. I mean one moment I like a book and the other moment I’m confused and contemplating my whole entire life.

It sucks but at the same time I’m okay with it. Because we’re human beings and we have to go through a lot of feelings each day and it’s normal that our opinions about books change after some time.*

But mind please relax and make the decision properly.

*why am I acting all preachy these days

Reasons why I change my mind about books

  • because that’s the only thing my brain knows how to do.

I mean, my brain! Why are you like this. Can’t you stick to one things and not confuse me please!!!

But seriously my brain needs to stop (not literally). I can never form a proper opinion about anything!!

  • My style/taste/preferences change over time

I mean they are constantly changing every minute which is also why my blog design changes every month. As much as I want to, I just can’t stick to one thing!!!

How do people actually choose their favourites. I can never see myself saying that this book is my ult favourite (seriously waiting for that day)

  • I probably liked that book because everyone else liked it

See, I can be easily influenced. Especially when it comes to opinions. And if I see someone saying that this book is good then I too will say the book is good. Even if I don’t think that book is good. However gradually, i’ll start voicing my own opinions about that book.

  • It’s by my favourite author/part of my favourite series

Now I don’t actually have a favourite author or series but I maaay be biased towards some. So obviously if that author releases another book, I’m going to support it even if I don’t like it. And like the last point, I’ll gradually start changing my mind.

  • If someone likes it, then I don’t

This one is only applicable to me, but I just can’t seem to like something that people hype/like a lot. And so I never actually express my true opinions about it (idk what I’m saying). But in my mind my opinions keep changing (okay I really need to go sleep now)

These are only some of the reasons aka the reasons I can think of as of now. But there are quite a few books that I used to “like” earlier but now I still like them, but not as much as before.

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Please don’t hate me!! I don’t actually dislike this book, but I just don’t like it as much as other people. I love the message behind it but I couldn’t connect to it.

Also this is probably a very unpopular opinion but I had a lot of trouble with the main otp (i.e Blue and Simon) I don’t know I just couldn’t connect to it. I mean of course they’re cute together but it felt kind-of insta lovey to me. (even though it wasn’t actually insta-love) Like if I read a book where the otp have already formed this relationship, be it friendship or anything, I’m just never able to connect.

But this book still has its cute elements that are to die for. And I totally get why people love it so much. But I don’t think I love it THAT much. Although my opinion will probably change after a few months.

The Upside of Unrequited

Another Albertalli book but basically it’s the connection thing again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I find it hard to connect to Becky’s characters I have no idea why.

Although I think I might like this book better than Simon vs because idk I really liked the sibling relationship + the story was relatable. But Molly’s sister and her girlfriend kinda turned me off. Like I feel that their relationship could have been more developed.

The Percy Jackson books

I have said this once before as well but basically all Percy Jackson books has the same recycled plot + some new characters. I love these characters with all my heart but I reaaaally want to see something new.

I used to love these books and I still do but after I reread the first 2 books in the Heroes of Olympus series, I just got very irritated. Each book has the same plot. I really hope Rick Riordian writes something new which is very different from these series. But even if he doesn’t, it’s okay. I’ll still support his books and these characters.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

I rated this book around 4 stars but now when I think about this book, I don’t like it that much. The characters are so adorable but the plot!! There wasn’t a plot in this book and that made this book boring for me.

Nevertheless I rated this book high because well everyone loved it and I thought I did too. This book never fails to make me feel all sad and emo buuuut I just don’t like it as much as others.

Harry Potter

This book has its problems and there’s no denying that. But for many years I never actually acknowledged them.

But now after reading many reviews I have come to a conclusion that it has got some problems but at the same time I can’t help but love it!! Although I would love it if Rowling actually acknowledges these problems.

Aaaah this post is such a mess. And filled with so many unpopular opinions. Please don’t hate me for this. I have nothing against these books and I still like them but I just don’t like it as much as some people out there.

But seeing the way my mind keeps changing, I’ll probably be giving these books 5 stars in a few months. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ who knows. And it’s okay if one’s mind about a certain book changes because there’s nothing wrong with it + they’re entitled to their own opinion. Also someone stop me from writing such unpopular opinion kind of posts.

  1. When it comes to books, I’m pretty stubborn with my opinion. The only book I’ve ever changed my opinion on was Eragon. At first I liked it, so I did a book review on it and gave it 3 1/2 stars. I reread it and realized how terrible it was!! There were some parts of my review that were critical, but mostly it was praise…

HAPPY *almost* 1 YEAR BLOGOVERSARY!!!! 🎁 Congrats!! 🎈🎉 I took your survey gave the cringest answers possible. 👍🏻👍🏻🤣 I love your blog so much and your posts are awesome 💕

    1. Aaaaah I wish I could stick to my first opinion but that never happens. I’ve changed my mind about a lot of books but I usually don’t take it seriously.

      1. Your welcome! 💕 And I’m likely the second cringest person alive. (Not even kidding. I’ve been called a “Roaster Toaster” and “The Cringe Queen” by my friends before 😂😝)
